  • any advice please on cutting 851 vinyl?

    Hi,

I am doing a lot of work with Oracle 851.

When it comes to weeding it seems to be harder to weed, not sure if its the material, knife weight etc.

If i use 751 after cutting the weeding is easy, it just leaves the cut lettering on the sheeting.

However with the 851 vinyl I am having to be really careful not to lift the lettering when weeding, it seems to be taking twice as long to weed than the 751.

Cutter is Summa Cut, 610 vinyl, blade weight 95g.

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance

    Darrell…..

Darrell, 851 is thinner than the 751 or 751c and should be easier to weed.

I have used both and must confess that 851 is my preference, but that said, 751 is very very good on small text.

There is a thought in the industry that the new 751c is actually 3M’s 7725 with an oracal adhesive. 3M 7725 is the industries best product for small text.

I think the problem would probably be to do with the adhesive on the 851 as it is not as aggresive as the old 751 poly product, but is similar to the new 751 cast product.

Not sure which 751 you are referring to, but the 851 should be OK anyway. May be a good idea to call your supplier as they may have a better answer, but try increasing the cutting pressure just a tad.
