Anti-Static wipes
Posted by Richard Urquhart on 6 October 2004 at 14:03hi all thought i would let you know about a new product from u-pol its a panel wipe cloth that we use before painting a car panel to remove silicone etc etc i have been using them to prep foam board as not only do they clean there also good and reducing static build up
you just pull wipe out of tub and clean surface its so easy
part number up 0301 around £7 per tub
called panel prep fast
single action no dry wiping
anti static
and no i don’t have any thing to do with u-pol

Sounds good Rich
Where can we get these cloths from, we have a local paint & panel firm in our area will they stock them?
Cheers

I’ve been after these for some time
I think they used to be called tac rag or somethingThe car spray shop I went to didn’t stock it
Strange 😕Be handy to know a local supplier

Are these a wet-wipe?
I assume so if you pull them out of a tub.
Just curious, as I haven’t seen them around here.
Altho you guys had deodorant wipes first!
Took us about 2 years to get them in.
I usually just use a fabric softener dryer sheet,
but these anti-static things sound intriguing.

No Jill these are not cosmetic 🙄
The ones I’ve used you pull out of a box
They have a slight moist feel to them but they do a marvelous job in removing stuff from say a car (that’s an automobile) panel in prep for sprayingJohn

sure are there like baby wipes but contain solvent cleaner ,we like them cause there easy and no need to wipe dry they come in fast and slow we use the fast one cause it drys in seconds

john tac cloths are not the same there as there called tacky and don’t do any thing other than remove dust from panel after its been panel wiped
if say we panel wipe a bumper it makes it so static and all the dust is attracted to it even after tac clothing its a nightmare but with these wipes its much much better

Righty!
( 😳 Sorry Jill you were on the right track)
Ok! So where do we source these then Rich?
(As they sound so much better than tac cloths)John

Yup, John, I wasn’t gonna wipe my ***** or my face with one! 😉
That would burn!
I can’t wait till we get them here.
What a smart idea.

Hi guys
If you cant get the wipes, the same solvent is available in solution 5 ltr tub and is actually called panel wipe. I ve been using it for the last 8 yrs, and it does definitley help wipe away and sticky residue of banners, static of foamex etc, and help prep surfaces clean before applying any graphics onto vehicles especially.
It leaves no stickyness and evaporates easily. The only thing is, as with all solutions, has chemical warnings. Can be purchased from any automotive supplier
IT DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN.. 😛 -
your 100% right about panel wipe but as stated in my post panel wipe makes plastic and foam-board quite static once its been cleaned
these wipe eliminate static build up which is more why i like them -
