    Hi again,

It’s probably quite an obvious thing but I can’t for the life of me work out how to do this. I’m using signblazer by the way.

I’ve needed some fonts, some that I have to buy, but I downloaded some of the free fonts first just to make sure I could work with them and then go and buy the fonts that I needed.

I can’t figure out how to import the font into Signblazer to use it. Is there a way to do this that I am simply missing?

    Any help would be great.

    Cheers
    Jonny

I’ve never used SignBlazer, but just a few questions. What platform are you on, Mac or PC? Most applications use fonts that are installed through the system. Do the fonts that you install show up in any other programs (pc – notepad or mac – textedit)?

    Hi,

I’m on a PC, running Vista. Yes I can open the fonts in notepad no problem.

For Windows you need to copy (install) fonts into the system fonts folder. If they were Zipped, you will have to extract the files and look in your Windows folder for your fonts folder. Just drag and drop the fonts in or Copy and Paste.

I use EngraveLab and also have to import the fonts into the library (file menu, Install, Fonts), might be something similar in SignBlazer………….

There are a few different possibilities here that could cause some problems. I’ll just name a few and we’ll go from there.

1.) I was poking around on the Internet. It seems like SignBlazer might have some issues with the Vista operating system. I don’t know if that specifically means fonts or other general bugs.

2.) It’s possible that SignBlazer only supports certain formats of fonts (i.e. only PC TrueType etc). Although I don’t think this one is the problem

3.) You might just have a bad font in general installed on your system that can reek havoc.

Do you use a font management program? These can be helpful weeding out orphaned or corrupt fonts. I wish I had more experience with the application you’re using. You can go here to the forums and probably get more precise help with your specific problem though.

I just re-read what Graeme said, and agree that you might have to tell SignBlazer that you’ve added a font. It could be a way that SignBlazer handles the font cache files (which basically is like an applications own library to keep track of what fonts are installed and turned on or off). The documentation that came with your software should have some directions on the best way to add fonts for the program.

    Just a quick note:
In the text dialogue box you can select which list of fonts it displays. It seems to automatically select SBF fonts….. if you change that to ‘all fonts’ your font should appear (well… that has been my experience anyway…. 😮

    Thanks guys.

Simon, I bought the software from Signwizard UK and was told it was fully compatible with the Vista system, maybe all not true though, but I haven’t had a problem with it. Thanks for the links didn’t know SB had a forum, that’s handy.

Angelique, thanks for that but I can’t seem to find that all fonts selection.

    Cheers for your help people.

You’ve got a newer version than me, so it may be different. I’m still on 5.5
The only list I get are SBF fonts or TTF fonts. So, that leaves out a large portion of newer fonts anyway (Open Type). I’ve never worked out how to import new fonts to signblazer.
For example, I just installed a new font for a print job today. Works fine in Illustrator, but if I try in signblazer, the font is in the list, but the text is Helvetica instead!!
I tend generally to do any design work in Illustrator and import EPS files to signblazer to cut.
