Alu Angle Dimensions
I’ve been asked to provide a sign on a tray – I’ve never installed a sign tray before so I’m wondering about whether I need to consider the dimensions of the aluminium angle used to fix it to the wall. Should I be using different sizes depending on the depth of the sign tray? or can will it be OK to just use 1" x 1" x 1/8"?
The reason I ask is that sign trays are obviously made with different size returns depending on the customer’s requirements, so if a tray is 30mm deep, I know a piece of 1" x 1" aluminium angle would be sufficient, but if the tray is say 80mm, should I be opting for a wider piece, for example 2" x 1" x 1/8"? or thicker perhaps? or will the same 1" x 1" alu angle be suitable?
I’ve searched the forum for information on this but there isn’t any advice regarding the dimensions. I know alu angle is strong so it’s probably a stupid question, however I do not want some obscure event to occur, someone gets hurt and something relating to the sign come back to me because I used a narrower fixing than I should have.
