Alternative to Group 101 for flag printing?
I’m in search of an alternative flag printer. We’ve used James at Group 101 for what little bits we do, but I’m having a nightmare getting this one thing resolved.
A brief history:
We ordered 4 show home style flags from 101 at end of October. They arrived 1 day late on the 10th November, but for once that wasn’t a problem and as usual James’s service was second to none, and let me know this.
The flags arrived, well packaged as usual, and we opened it up and checked the print on one flag. As usual it was perfect, the stitching was fine. Everything you’d expect from Group 101, and were duly delivered to the customer myself. This was the only remaining part of their order, as we’ve supplied all their signage.
The customer is eager to change the flags, like for like with their existing tatty flags. Each is fixed by a sleeve at the top, eyelets down the long edge for fixing, with a small weight at the bottom.
I get an e-mail on the Monday (13/11/17), showing that one of the eyelets had come out of the flag, "not a problem I’ll get it sorted." The image is sent to James, with an explanation explaining the problem.
James replied promptly, suggesting perhaps the flag had been over tensioned at the bottom, and could I clarify. I replied, that this is unlikely as all 4 flags are fitted using the same method, attached a picture of the original flag from the survey I did, and that the other 3 flags are all OK.
Regardless of how it happened, this 1 flag needs replacing, I’m not even bothered about paying for it.
I finally get a quote (22/11/17) to reprint the single flag, at £80 +VAT. Quite a lot considering that 4 flags cost £165 +VAT.
I understand that it’s a pain in the backside to do a 1 off, and it will cost more. I replied to the quote to see if there was anything we could do on price, considering it was a replacement for the damaged one.
I got no reply to that e-mail, and get hold of James, who explains that they’d be able to do something if we can hang fire and they’ll tag it on next time the material is on the machine, he thinks there some going through before the end of the month. He asked me to e-mail Karolina asking the quote be amended on that basis. When the customer asked I advised them of the same, and they were understanding.
To this day, I’ve not had that quote, I’ve rang and left messages for James (who I appreciate is a busy man), Karolina hasn’t returned calls. Nor have I had a reply to e-mails asking for an update. I’ve not really hounded James over this as I assumed that it was in his capable hands.
I have a lot of time for James, and have sung his praises in the past, recommended him to others. I’ve no complaint about the quality. I’ve not blamed Group 101 for the flag, I’m not demanding it be replaced for free. I think I’ve been quite reasonable.
To add insult to injury, the customer is withholding the balance of the job until this one flag is replaced. I get the distinct impression I’m being given the cold shoulder 🙁 I simply need someone to print this single flag so I can get paid :bangshead: :bangshead: :bangshead:
Perhaps James will reply, and we can resolve this, or could anyone recommend an alternative supplier?
To James personally, it really does upset me to write this  . I know it’s nearly 9pm on a Friday, but I’ve not had a drop to drink, but it’s really starting to irritate me now.
I’ve never had a bad word to say about you or Group 101. When we’ve had damaged items in the past, it’s been sorted quickly and promptly. I know we’re a tiny fish in a huge pond, that I’ve driven you up the wall in the past with the Wrexham job 😆 . I’ve spoken to you personally through facebook, your advice was fantastic and we took it on board and changed how we deal with some customers.
If there’s a problem, or issue, say something, the deathly silence is killing me
