    Hi Guys/girls

I know what i want to achieve but not sure how to do it.

I need to have text with a bitmap image as a fill. I will be taking the picture myself but was wondering at what resolution i need to be at in order to give a good final result.

This will be going on the side of a trailer and each individual letter will be no bigger than 12″

Hope some of you will give me the benefit of your experience

    Cheers
    Iain

    Hi Iain,

Forgive me mate, but what machine do you have, and what software do you run?

As far as a picture quality goes, the higher the better. I take photos at 300dpi personally, but you can print as low as 120dpi and it is accepatable in most cases.

    Cheers

Sorry Shane, i will be outsourcing the finished print.

As for software i have the usual suspects, Corel, Photoshop etc.

The reason i’m asking is because the last time i did a print with a supplied image it turned into a nightmare. I was hoping by getting it right from the start things might go a bit smoother.

    Hope that makes more sense

    Iain

no worries mate, if your outsourcing, the higher the resolution the better.

find out what your company require -cmyk or rgb – and do it at your end, don’t rely on them to do it, coz in most cases they do what they want.

I ask sign shops that give me contract work, to supply the file ready to print in corel, then they know that they will be getting what they designs.

I also do a sample before I start as a proof, so we both know what to expect.
