Hi, we used an alternative to contravision that was much cheaper but exactly the same things happened!! Ended up redoing the whole job 🙁 Which product are you using?
I know Miltons are doing a brand now which tested well for us and it costs around £10-£11 per sq mtr to buy. You might also want to check out the tips n tricks forum as Rob posted an alternative way of achieving one way vision using standard vinyls.. Not tried it that way yet but it was a great idea.

You can also use clear vynil, and dont Print the holes, Signlab has a fcility to do this. It works ok done on my gerber, not tried it on inkjet though.
When you applied the contravision , I presume you applied dry and allowed about 10mm to go below the window seal?

hi, thats where I went wrong I think , I couldnt get it behind the seal so at first I cut as close to the seal as possible , then realised my problem so cut about 5 mm up from the seal, seems to have stopped the main problem and there is no noise of the film catching the rubber, just hope it doesnt reoccur
should i always try and apply the contravision below the seal then ?

Thats how I do it, most seals come off quite easily on modern stuff, so its worth removing them if its not a major job,

It’s not really a good idea to put contravision on windows that are going to be opened.

I always clear laminate the contravision to give it better slip. and reduces damage to the print. Also there are safety issues when it rains as the holes fill with water and become opaque. The clear stops that.
Peters advice on the fitting below the seal is good too. I learnt the hard way myself. Didn’t know peter then unfortunately 🙄
Clear nail polish on the leading edge will also help

I read in the other post that you applied wet, If you did the contravision wet, especailly with soapy water,, it can take days to dry out, especially this time of year..

Hi evrybody,
tomorrow i have to repair a one-way vision because it starts curling on the edges. It was clear laminated.
I’ll first try to put it under the window seal. If that isn’t possible i’ll lay a clear vinyl stroke on the edge totally around the print. I hope that will prevent water to get under the print…
Shane: i have another problem with clear laminated contravision. I sell contravision to my clients because they still want to see through their window. When it is clear laminated it gives a really blurry effect from the inside. You don’t see clearly through the window but you see all vague shapes instead of cars 😕
Is that normal or am i doing something wrong? :lol1:Cheers,

bartI am not sure about ‘contravision’ as I only use oracal’s contravision’, but oracal laminate in a crystal clear type. Very thin and very expensive here, but is clear to look thru. The fuzzy look is caused by the adhesive I think. Also, you must do iyt dry, as this will also effect the lamiantes clarity when it dries.
hope that helps.
The curling is caused by too much ink being laid to the edge. It was probably not hung to dry for 24 hrs either. Drying 1 way vision flat will effect the glue resulting in it letting go as it is heated up.
