  • Advice on what DPI to run my printer please?

    hi guys im back with another probably simple question but… when printing for customers what dpi setting do you use for the printer? im unsure of the balance between speed and quality. im using a grenadier 54 and colorip, printing onto gloss vinyl, cheers guys

    I print everthing i do at 720 dpi this will be slow on a grenadier but gives a much better finish, i prefer it to look good rather than print quick. I also find if i print to quick it does not dry quick enough for the take up roller.

    I don’t do any large format printing but my understanding was that it was down to viewing distance, having said that if Russell prints everything at 720dpi then that spoils what I thought.

    well i dont know ur print modes, but might be similar as they are the same head

    On the JV3-160S (not the SP which is different)

    i used to print everything at 720×720 (8 pass) uni, I print everything else at 720 but now i print banners at 540×360 (4 pass) uni/bidirection as it doesn’t matter for banners if they are lower quality, you save a bit of ink and printer goes faster, banners are what they are.

    so. I can print at 720x 720
    in 4, 8, or 16 pass, and the same with other resolutions
    explain please?
