  • Advice on using Vehicle Templates please?

Posted by Rich Cooper on 18 November 2014 at 18:35

    Hi everyone

Im looking at buying the latest version of impact vehicle out lines, can anyone tell me if they have taken a cut line from any of the vans? and if so how successful was it?
im wanting to know if i can for example create a design with in the indents where the windows should be on a van and use that as my cut line to get a good fit into the panels. I usually cut them on the vehicle.

    thanks in advance rich

    Hi Rich

The templates are not accurate enough. It’s best to use knife less tape to cut them into the recess panels.

As Lee has said the vehicle templates are not accurate enough to be able to work with like that. They are really only for a visual of how things will look, having said that I have a notebook with the actual panel sizes of vehicles I have done & measured myself. I use this to scale the templates up or down to make them more accurate.

Yes Signlab has that feature and there is a macro for Corel Draw to do the same – Macro can straighten drawing as well.

    Alan,
I do a lot of excavators for a large manufacturer and I use an app on my ipad called ‘My measures’ where I take a photo and then measure a certain point on the machine and punch it in the app then manually size it on my desktop, a bit of a faff,
are you saying that Corel will automatically size it for me, if so could you kindly explain to me how to use this feature as it sounds as if it could save me a great deal of time.
    Thanks Peter
