  • Advice on the best Light For Weeding?

    Hi All…

Hope you can give me some help…..

I’m working in a room with a ceiling height of about 7 foot. I’ve got 2 fluorescent tubes & a few flush mounted halogen’s. It’s bright enough to do everything, except weeding, it’s very difficult to see the cut line. I’m using both Gloss & Matt vinyl’s ….

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can improve the lighting ???

    Many Thanks

    Dave

I’m guess you probably have eye-sight like me mate… which is closing in on Mr McGoo’s. 😕

i find natural light is best. have your weeding table near/next to a window.
what this does is points a nice natural light from one side. the light hits the cut lines and creates little highlight around the cut path allowing you to identify whats what…

if you dont have a window near by… try using a spot lamp to see what i mean. sit it at one end of the bench and point it at an angle across your weeding bench surface. you should see it highlights the cut paths better than lots of over head lights.

other ways of doing it… but difficult to explain in text. theres a demo in the demo area by a bloke using a chalk pounce pad. which is also a very good way of doing it. but does drag the back side out of weeding for my liking. 😕 :lol1:

Thanks very much Rob for your reply.
I think your right about my eyesight….
It’s also probably correct that the lighting is not good enough with just over head lights. It’s not possible to use natural light, so I’ve ordered a DAYLIGHT LAMP. I’ll try this out to see if it helps.
Have you come across DAYLIGHT TUBES, so I can replace the Fluorescent lights that are already in place…??

    Many Thanks

I have a desk lamp on my table where I weed.
I can move it to where I need it.
Overhead light isn’t enough for me.

you could get a SAD light which not only gives you natural bright sunlight type light…but it should also make you feel great!
