  • Advice on ordering from Robert Horne

Posted by Liam Pattison on 3 September 2010 at 14:36

Sorry to bring this up again, i don’t know if UKsignboards association with Robert Horne has long since been forgotten. I’ve never ordered from them, but a couple of months ago they sent me some paper work to fill in to sign up for a special uksignboards account with them, i didn’t bother at first, but they rang me every other day asking me to fill it in and send it back, so i did.

I just rang up to order some hoarding sheet and they said they had never heard of the uksignboards. And they had no record of an account in my name. I rang several of their branches and got the same response everywhere. Eventually one branch said they ”had vaguely heard of uksignboards but don’t have much to do with them.”

So is there still a discount of any kind offered to uksg members as i seemed to almost get laughed at on the phone for mentioning it? And how would you go about ordering from them to get this discount?

Any info on this would be appreciated

    thanks

    Liam

    Liam,
I’ve had an account with Robert Horne for over 30 years and during that time I’ve had quite a few different numbers and branches that my account has been held at, I’m currently dealing with Manchester (08454 501026) and I have to say I very rarely have any problems.
Since being a Signboards member they invariably tell me that I’m a member, so it obviously shows somewhere on a screen display.
Keep trying – try the number above and hopefully you’ll get someone with some sense.

    Hi there

thanks to you both, this is probably my own fault for not paying attention on how to order! If anyone could pm me the phone number or post it here that would be great thanks.

The buying group is called UKsigngroup (UKSG) Liam not UKsignboards (UKSB) – This may explain the confusion at some branches

    Hi Phill,

I did explain both elements to them and exactly what uksb was, but they said they had never heard of it. They went off and asked someone else and came back saying, ‘the name sounds vaguely familiar to us’. They wanted £20 to deliver as well which is over double what i pay from other supplier so i didn’t bother with them anyway.

    Cheers

one Way or another i plan loading most, if not all RHG prices next week. by that i mean, if i dont have things back in format i need them, i will do my own to get this sorted for now.
same with WmSmith as i had to give them back theirs for amendments also.

there will also be a dedicated number for everyone to buy from. those happy to deal with their current branch without problems then they are welcome to carry on. but there WILL be a UKSG dedicated number. I have it now, just havent openly told folk till everything is 100%.

it is "UK Sign Group" mate as phill says… not uksignboards.
you need to remember that two large companies with many branches have merged here, only key folk from the previous europoint are still there. the UK Sign Group has been dealing with Europoint for 10 years now. so those we should be dealing with "do know" who we are. hense why we will have a dedicated number to prevent confusion…

also… every account on their system shows UKSG Member.
so unless invoices come in with this on it, you are not properly on their system.

i will add, many folk that dealt with robert horne already do NOT automatically become a UKSG member, you MUST go through the proper procedure of being put on their system as a member or you will always have problems.
