Advice on fitting a large banner – approx 25m x 3m
Morning guys, I have been asked to supply and fit a large banner to the side of a building.Ill be subbing out the production but it’s the fitting which I’m concerned about.
The banner will be going flat against the wall of a derelict building which is due to be demolished. It’s fairly exposed but it shouldnt catch the wind. The bottom edge of the banner will be roughly 15ft above the ground so we are looking at a 20-25ft maximum working height. I imagine a banner of this size is going to weigh a fair bit and fitting from ladders will be difficult/dangerous – can it be fitted safely from a cherry picker? There is an issue with access because there is a steel/concrete overhang projecting approx 1.5m out from the wall about 3 ft below where the bottom of the banner will be. This means I can’t get a scissor lift directly underneath and close enough to the wall, or fix the bottom of the banner from ladders, although I could use it as a working platform (no safety rails!).
It’s my first experience of specifying and hanging a banner of this size so any advice would be welcome.

How heigh from the roof is the top of the banner? If it isnt that far from the top have someone ontop of the building hold the banner while you pull it through the sail track if thats what you are using to fix it to the building.
If you can’t get someone on the roof and you only have one cherry picker get a 50m + rope and put an eyebolt on one side of the banner. Fix the rope to the edge of the banner and thread it through the eyebolt and grab the other end of the rope.
You can then lift the cherry picker to the other end of the sail track insert the banner and then pull with the rope to pull the banner across. Never done that with a 25m wide banner but done it on smaller banners when I couldnt move left or right.

pretty certain you will need some kind of frame under the top of it to keep it straight…
pretty tricky to get it perfectly level.few topics on here in the past.

I did a few big banner largest was 5M x 20M. I fitted this with 2 people and scissor lift and another with 3 people and cherry picker. I fitted eye bolts to the building and used pulleys to raise the banner to an approximate height and position, tie off ropes and fit from cherry picker with screws and washers.
