  • Advice on centralisng image to print double sided banners

I am trying to produce double sided banners using Onyx Rip printing on a Mutoh valuejet. For some reason even though I have printer set to center print to sheet it seems to print 15mm to the left so when material is turned round and image is flipped its 15mm out. Registration top to bottom is perfect.

Am I missing something? If anyone does double sided prints please can you let me know how you achieve this.

    Thanks
    Colin

If its consistently 15mm out then the easiest way is to offset it by 15mm to compensate.
The usual way is to print the first side then make a registration mark on the other side of the banner where you want to start printing

    Hi Andy,

I have no problems registering top and bottom. Its the left to right I am having trouble with. I have tried justifying 10m to the left on 1st side and nothing on side 2 and it made it worse so tried leaving side 1 alone and left justified side 2 10mm still not right. Its driving me mad (hot) it just makes no sense. I can only justify to the left in Onyx for some reason. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from you.

    Thanks
    Colin

I’ve not done it before but I remember a few weeks ago it was discussed so do a search and you might find it. It was something along the lines of making a pin hole in the corner so you know where to set the head to start printing or something like that.

    sorry not much help.

i would not use centre print as you dont have control over where it prints.
never done a 2 sided banner but lots of double sided stickers.

Thanks Warren && Andy I searched this and many other posts on this and after spending many hours yesterday have decided to print 2 single banners and back them up. What ever I seem to do it is always out side to side.

Chris I have tried left & right justifying still wrong. Not sure if its a software or machine thing but just seems to be all over the place.

I have a couple of HP 5500 printers and they centralize with no problems but the Mutoh just does not seem to understand what that is.

Thanks for all your advice and may revisit this another time as I just cant understand why I cant get it to work. Its become a challenge now between me and the machine.

    Thanks
    Colin

If that was the case, i would get block out material and print 2 banners on the block out. i would not use normal 550gsm material as you may find the images shine through if it was mounted up on a wire between the road.
