  • Advice needed with Fluro vinyl roof wrap please

    Hi everyone,

I am looking for a bit of experienced advice. I have a race car to do and the owner wants fluro vinyl over the whole roof and in big stripes down the sides. Has anyone any experience of this? Which is the best vinyl for this (I don’t think you get fluro wrap vinyl) and what would the best technique be (i.e. wet or dry).. My plan was to apply it wet with some Rapitac and go from there, but I’ve no experience of fluro vinyls.

    Cheers
    Baz

I haven’t used it yet as it has only arrived today but Oracal 7510 flourescent is a cast vinyl so would think that would be suitable and it was at a good price.

I’ve used the oracle flouro cast, as Steve mentions above, used it on a few race cars now with no complaints, nice to work with imho.

How long is it to last for?? Be aware that florescent vinyls have a much shorter life span than other vinyls, cheaper end of the market your only looking at 6 months outdoors & 2 years at the upper end.
As for application on a roof then it really has to be dry. Most roofs will have some form of compound curve which will cause you problems if you have to cover the whole roof & you try to wet apply. Even the sides could be troublesome depending on the car if the stripes are to be wide for the same reasons.

Cheers for the advice. I’ve already warned the customer that they’ll only get 2 years out it, though being stored in a garage 340 days of the year it may possibly last longer.

OK, maybe dry is the way to do it. Needs thought, and practice.

BTW, nice job on the Ginetta.
