  • Advice needed on Versacamm Blades please?

Posted by Edward Thompson on 6 January 2012 at 14:12

    Hi All,

Can someone give me a brief explanation of the different cutting blades for my Versacamm VP 540i.

I am not sure how often these should be changed and we are getting some jagged edges when cutting Transflex 400 so i think the blade has had it.

Also what different sort of blades can you buy?

Also a link to somewhere that sells them would be great.

    Many thanks

    Edward

Have a fresh cup of coffee with you when you ring as well 😉
I only rang to ask about sending some back for resharpening, think I was on the phone for 1/2 hour.

Harry’s of mathias is a very nice guy and knows his stuff. his products are reputable too…

but personally, i prefer to buy my blades, use and bin when done, and so on…
i am not keen on the whole return the blade holder prior to running out etc etc etc
we have several machines, several staff running them. just a bit too long winded an exercise only to be caught short when staff forget. and i say that with experience… not just knocking for the sake of it.

we use PRINTONE or direct from graphtec etc.

You have a roland machine, so you should be after a roland blade.

different angled blades etc only come into play when your cutting textile media and the like.

a blade should cost you between £10-£15 each and last you months if you run them properly. and thats high volume cutting. at this price its hardly worth trying to scrimp on cost. after all this is your bread and butter work…

I use Harry for blades as well but not so much for the cost (although his blades are not expensive) but for the convenience. A few seconds to change blade and holder as opposed to faffing about with blade and spring (Graphtec) Changing blade type for different media is so easy.
