    Hi all,

ive worked with vinyl for years but have recently been thinking about buying a printer to enable me to do printed graphic designs to stick on to vehicles and advertising boards. i am looking at buying a 24 inch upwards printer that will print on to self adhesive vinyl. i dont want to spend too much as at the moment i dont know how likely i am to use this printer so i wanted something cheap and cheerful before buying something of a decent quality and price. ive searched the internet for days looking at printers. i cant afford a used good name printer just yet such as roland ect as i only have up to £1000 budget.

The most popular printer that comes up is hp designjets and most say they will print on to colourfast vinyl? will this print on to normal vinyl such as grafityp vinyl or grafityp digital print medias or do i have to buy hp’s vinyl and will hp’s vinly be of a quality that can be fitted to vehicles?

i would appreciate any advice and guidance as i feel like a headless chicken in this area and dont want to guess at buying something and end up buying something that is incapable of doing what i want it to do.

    Many thanks zoe

    Zoe..

As with life, you get what you pay for. If you want to go into the printing market then investment is a must. Spending £1000 and expecting £1000s back doesn’t happen.

Check the boards for print related topics. There are guys here with years of experience in the vinyl print trade and non of them will tell you it will be easy! Especially on £1000 budget!

hi matt thanks for your reply,

im really not expecting to earn 1000’s from this initally, all im really looking for is something i can play about with for a bit to get me started so i know if its worth spending big money on. i dont want to spend too much to start off with as its really about testing the waters and seeing if its worth going in to fully and spending large amounts of money on and if i can get enough regular work to be able to profit from it.

i have had a little look on some of the other forums but ran out of time earlier so ill have another browse again tomorrow.

    thanks again for replying
