  • Advice needed on Mutoh Valuejet 1204 please?

Posted by John McNickle on 26 September 2011 at 09:48

hi i have bought a second user valuejet 1204 printer and it is running sun inks (converted by my engineer), the prints are clean and everything is good and he says its all in good order but the prints are not very stong in colour, i am using the icc profiles that are for the valuejet and it runs through flexisign 8.1, is there a setting or something i need to change?

    Thanks
    John

Have the profiles your using been supplied by your new ink supplier John ? I’m guessing you have seen prints printed with this ink that are a lot more vivid than the ones your producing at the moment.

hi martin, the engineer says that the sun inks are a direct match for the eco ultra inks and no changes needed made, the problem is the colours are dull ie burgundy looks like an old print

I would print a Pantone chart from Flexi to see if the printer can actually achieve the colour you’re looking for. A lot of ink manufacturers claim to be a direct colour match but often this is not the case. You will more than likely have to tweak the colours a tad. I’m not very experienced with the Sun inks so can’t say that is the case for sure.

I repaired a VJ1204 last weekend and had a similar thing with a washed out looking red. The calibration on the wave DX5 head makes a massive difference. Did your engineer check the head slants on it?
