  • advice needed on Application tape lifespan please?

Hi all, just a little help please i made some Freshly scooped just for you stickers for an ice cream van just about a year ago, because of the length i was able to cut 4 but the buyer only wanted 2 so i put application tape on them all before i cut them the normal paper stuff. Same buyer has asked for another pair (i new someone would want them). When he tried to apply them he has told me the vinyl will not release from the tape! Does this tape have a shelf life does it degrade? It was kept in my storage shed which isn’t damp but has no heating could this have something to do with it??? Does the clear plastic tape last longer? Any advice would be great thanks in advance.

I couldn’t say about shelf life, but I’d expect the suppliers would know. I’d guess that the carrier tape has just gripped stronger due to time in storage. I’d tell him to try applying it to the surface – squeegee down – and then drench the carrier tape with water until it is soaked through. It should then peel off fairly easily.

yes all the paper tapes i have tried will degrade when applied and left for months before fitting . and will not come off the vinyl. just like old masking tape. normally the give away is its gone a brown colour.

the clear plastic tape does not and that’s why its used for stock items for shops etc.
