  • Advice needed on a Business name please?

Posted by Nikolas Cooper on 12 April 2012 at 20:35

Hi everyone, I would still describe my self as a novice, and I am no graphic designer, but after playing with designs for my own vehicle, and looking at a lot of posts on here i have come back to the drawing board with my business name, as i am still not 100% happy.

I need a name that tells people what i do, and that is window tinting(auto and flatglass) vehicle sign writing, vehicle wrapping, general signs, and would like to get into sublimation and garment printing in the future.

My name is Nikolas, and i get call Nik and Niki. The best i have come up with, that i can get the www. for is tints2graphics.

Give me you thoughts and ideas please! Then i can get back to trying to get logo and vehicle graphics done!

    Thanks in advance.

Nikofalltrades? 🙂 Sorry for being flippant but you say you are a novice. no design skills yet want to do everything that people on this site do.

I think you need to focus on your best skill first. That maybe window tinting? What printer/plotter have you now? What can you offer now?

I don’t think your Business name has to reflect everything you do. You can bullet point that later and add to it. If you didn’t know what Apple and Orange do you would think they were a greengrocers 😉

NikStik is the best I can think of.

Hi, I didnt give much away in my first post there reading it back, I have been window tinting for 5 years, i got my Graphtec CE5000-60 just over a year ago, and have been doing livery for vans and plant machinery ect since then. I am attending a wrap course at William Smith in a couple of weeks time. Any more suggestions for me?

    Personally I`d opt for simplicity.

    Cooper Signs

and list tinting, wrapping in your tag line.

If you have already been trading as a window tinter for 5 years what name are you using at the moment & why are you not happy with it?? If it is along the lines of window tinting & this is your core business you would probably be better off leaving it as you are if you are already known to people.
Other wise something like Denise’s suggestion works best for me.
I’m not a fan of the use of numbers or single letters such as "R" or "U" in names because I think there are so many people doing it now that it is starting to look cheap & tacky.

Thanks for the replies, its given me some more to think about, Martin I have just been trading under my name, being self employed, and i just feel like its time to get a bit more professional with my whole setup, as i have been working a part time job as well as working for my self over past years.
