  • Adjusting amount of ink laid down

    Hi

I am printing from Signlab 9.1 to a Mimaki JV33.
    I have 100 A1 prints in black/grey, it’s a low-cost job for a local charity for Children in Need.
My problem is that all the profiles I have tried are laying a lot of ink down so the prints are still wet when on the take-up roller, even with a heater in front. I’m now printing one row at a time (2 images) so they don’t stick together, but this is a complete pain, as you may imagine.
Is there a way to reduce the ink laid down? I’m sure that there was a way with my old Roland, but I cannot see anything in Signlab.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Hi Lorraine,
I don’t know about your printer specifically but in my onyx rip I can adjust the No of passes it makes, a standard quality print might be 1-12, high quality 16, or low res / draft can be as low as 6pass I think, it will use less ink on less passes (I think!)

If you are printing via signlabs rip, send Cadlink an email, I’ve found the pretty good, I believe a phone call might cost you though….

Thanks Hugh, Denise. I eventually found a vinyl rip which I am happy with, it is surprising the variances between even small tweeks. I’m using a draft mode where the ink is dry as it leaves the heater today, although I did warm up the unit this morning.
