Adhesive question?
Posted by Clive Darbon on 9 November 2006 at 13:01Hi Folks
Very simple qustion, need to make up some ‘A’ type boards out of timber and dibond, any suggestions as to a good adhesive to bond the two together? Can’t use self tapping screws as they don’t want any visible fixings. Thanks to all in advance.

I use "serious stuff" from evostick, but as a value added sales point, why not screw a piece of alli angle to the edge of the board, that way you can make the faces replacable, or reversable? Just a thought

Yes, that stuff is seriously good.
I always keep a couple of tubes around…sticks just about anything…anywhere.
Don’t bother with ‘no nails’ or any of the ‘grabs like nails’ stuff – it’s pretty useless in comparison.

Not heard of that product before (serious stuff)
Is it like a contact adhesive where you leave the glue to go off before bringing substrates together?
Is it something you get from B&Q ?

Neil
It Is in a tube like no nails, B&Q sell it for around £6-7.
It is not a contact adhesive, but sets in a couple of hours, and is weatherproofPeter

Take a trip to B&Q.
In the adhesives aisle. Black tube (looks like a silicone tube).
About £6 or £7 a tube.Sticks most products and goes off in about 40mins (warm) or a couple of hours (cold). Dries / cures to a very stiff (yet flexible) white rubber. Totally waterproof so don’t get it on your clothes!
