A very rare Saturday job: Rollings – Vehicle graphics and part wrapped Vivaro
Just thought I’d share this one. Client has a ‘marketing expert’ on staff. After 27 reworks of the design, I didn’t think this was ever going to happen

Thank you chaps, the new Vivaro, or the old dispatch, whichever you prefer. Door handles are a f*****g nightmare. Vauxhall can’t/won’t help. Found a new best friend in a reel of very strong twine.

Great work as usual kevin.
Out of interest regarding stripping of handles etc. Does anyone get in a mechanic of sort to prep it ready? Pass on all the headache and responsibility.

I’ve always taken the vehicle to a mate who runs a bodyshop whenever I encounter any difficulties, who tells me every time how easy it is (when you know how) But the logistics of getting someone there who knows what they’re doing, can come back when you’re done, can do it economically & has the time, is a nigh on impossible for us. Having access to the data sheets would be fantastic but sadly, not shared by anyone

Here’s one I did yesterday. So much easier with the door handles removed, which in the case of Ford vans is a very simple 5-minute job – go onto youtube and search for Transit door handle removal.
Other manufacturers follow similar lines

We always struggle with the Belingo rear handle…I even video’d a body work guy doing it when we struggled some tie ago and we still couldn’t do it when he’d gone 🙁

Always great to see your work, mate.
a very nice, clean design and fitted well within the parameters of the vehicle recessed areas on the sides and front, which obviously helps keep costs down for the customer without exceeding the limits of the vinyl, but still giving the look of a complete wrap. well done!Thanks for taking the time to post your work!

Another great Job Kevin. How did you do the sides? I’m assuming you didn’t wrap the entire sides or did you? And how did you keep the lines running stright over the contours of the recess?

Thanks Phill. A little trick we do with stripes across panels, we don’t completely trim the print before installation, we leave the excess on on the parts that need to be stretched, keeps the line straight while heating & applying, then trim off after post heat. The back doors are 1105, but the small panel at the rear quarter is the only panel that warranted wrap vinyl, so that bit was chopped in afterwards

Funny Kevin when I saw the first group of photos I thought the blue back looked out of place with the green sides…(Blue and green should never be seen is an old saying) but the latest photo you posted has a green back!

Took around 6 hours each, the plan for the fleet is to have identical sides throughout but a different image on the backs, kind of makes you look out for the set. Personally Simon, I think blue & green work really well together so I never really understood the old ‘blue & green’ saying. I do think red & green together looks a bit off, still, as I say to clients, it doesn’t matter if I like it, or if they like it either, it’s all about whether the viewer likes it at the end of the day. I maintain that it’s a bonus if they like it but even a bad reaction is better than it not being noticed!

The rollings text on the side. As you said this is not a complete side wrap. What vinyl did you use as i see it overlaps the front panel?. Sorry for the interigation but its an interesting design, good to see how other achieve such a look

Overlaps? moi? Not on this one Martyn, Oracal for the black text, printed green battery inlay & the plastic trim Avery 1105 wrap. Must have been a dodgy camera angle

ye sorry didnt mean overlap, meant where the black inlays into the recess. I wouldnt expect such things from you kev. Thanks for the info. very useful

[emoji28] Wouldn’t post it on here if it wasn’t up to scratch mate. Client didn’t want to break the bank after buying 3 brand new vehicles & a pretty expensive website, & fairly typically, the signwriter gets left with a small (ish)budget to pull it all together & make it look good. Even the web designer sat back & waited for me to design the brand before he bolted it on to his website. We were miserly with the use of the wrap material on this one. Back Door’s obviously no choice, but only the tiny sliding door panel cover on the sides needed a small stretch. Everyone’s a winner. Gets a bit tiresome when all around you need to be led by the nose to the bloody obvious though, tomorrow I’m making some ‘stop’ signs for the tops of the ladders

Well the client should definatly be happy with the end result. It does make you laugh sometimes. I had a guy in last week, he was with us for 45 mins after some small stickers and dibond signs. He told us he was coming our way because of quality of work and heard how well priced we were. Anyway next day gave him a price. 70 euros i believe. He replied that we are too expensive :smiles: . Funny thing is im not the one driving around in a 50k merc. Unbelivable.

They don’t get rich by giving it to us mate. On balance though, I have a few regulars that always complain about the waiting times. They insist I increase my prices (including their own projects) thin out my workload & be faster getting their work finished. All eggs in one basket & all that. Theory sounds good but I prefer my risks to be very thinly & evenly spread

Thats right mate. Diversity is the key to survival i believe especially in times like these.
