8ft x 4ft board that can be written on / wiped off?
Posted by Graeme Speirs on 6 February 2007 at 18:12hi all,
met a client today who wants an 8ft x 4ft wipeboard, my question is there a material you can buy this size which can be used?
can you use dibond etc and then use special pens or is the sheet material special?
They want to remove and replace the exisitng chalkboard with a modern wipe board. I would simple apply vinyl graphics etc onto the sheet material.
sorry if this sounds dumb!!!
cheers
graemeps: this needs to be hard wearing as ice pucks would potentially hit it and also its to be white material with black or blue graphics applied

thanks guys
peter (shaw) where do you get the whiteboard vinyl? dents in the material is not so much an issue as the board is sites off the rink, its jjust on the off chance the puck comes off the rink, past the nets and hits the wall ie: v little chance of this happenning.
can you not just buy in a material that is ready to go ie: you just apply vinyl lettering etc?
cheers

Most vinyl suppliers do whiteboard vinyl, often listed as dry wipe vinyl.

I would cover whatever you choose as your substrata and graphics, with anti graffiti laminate, draw on with most things and wipes off easy, works a treat, protects the vinyl/print as well.

Why Don’t you try using polycarb 3mm thick, You could put a white sheet of foam 5mm (Palight, foamex). fit they graphics to that and then put the polycarb on the front of it, dry wipe pens rube of the polycard I yous this method on a job it works well . 😀
Hope this helps Leon @ Sign Options

Go to the DIY store and get a 4×8 sheet of white tileboard.
(Abitibi Board, Marlite, the kind you’d use to refinish a cheap bathroom)
Apply your graphics then wax board with aerosol furniture polish.
Dry well with a soft cloth.
Write on/wipe off with dry erase markers to your heart’s content.
It will chip if hit with pucks tho.

You want a 8 x 4 board that can be instantly wiped off
Speak to Marcella she might be able to put you in contact with some sign fitters she would not like to know 😀

guys
problem solved, a quick google search came up with various companies who specialise in white boardsacross different materials. ie: an 8×4 aluminium board is around £80, however there is a 3mm steel version coated with white enamel for £130. This will certainly be strong enough, so all ive done is doubled the price of this and added on a cost for applying graphics. I put the cost to them at £360 and the client seems very happy with the price as he knows this will last …..just shows you!!!!
i dont want to put up the companies I found in case i aint allowed, if anyone esle needs this type of thing just put whiteboards into google and the top two searches do pretty much the same product.
cheers again

:lol1: :lol1: :lol1: yeah they do a great job, it would only take 1 screw! 😉
No problem posting the name of the company who supplies these boards ………. I’ve looked for this in the past but ended up using a clear laminate over boards to use as a dry wipe surface.
