  • 5mm cutting silicone mats silicone required for a work bench

    Hello all,

do you guys know where is the best place to buy an industrial silicone cutting mat to use on our work bench?

    Size required is around 370cm x 200cm.

I checked 2 or 3 suppliers and the prices are very expensive.

    Thanks

We’ve got a clear rubbery type cutting matt from Solar Sign Supplies. Yes expensive, but very good.

Only flaw is that vinyl sticks to it really well, and we’re left with bits of vinyl and remnants of parcel tape etc stuck to it.

That’s why i use 2mm solid polypropylene sheet s on my bench tops.

Dirt cheap and you can cut and cut and cut on it all year. Basically non-stick too.

Can tell you’ve been doing this for years Mr Rogers! Great idea! Does that not blunt your blades quite quickly though?

    Not at all.
Big believer in 10A swann Morton blades.

It’s a tough material but surprisingly easy on blades.

And you’re right! I’ve over 10 years of using it.

Your local industrial doors company will be able to get polypropylene by the roll, the guys local to me sort me out at a really good price. 🙂
