Is there any reason I shouldn’t use 440ml ink cartridges in my BN-20? I checked the manuals but they only mention the 220ml cartridges.

Warranty for one thing Jason if the manual only says 220ml cartridges.

thought I heard that it was not advisable due to the weight of the 440carts.
to be honist I can’t see the point on that machine

Weight shouldn’t be an issue looking at the way they are supported.
    Cost is the main reason.
    £57 + VAT for 220ml
    £81 + VAT for 440ml

I don’t know ifyou can or you can’t but if they say don’t use 440s then don’t as they can tell how many cartridges and of what size you have used when or if they service/repair your machine.

    Cheers
