Very nice Robert. Is that cast bronz, or cold cast maybe?

I love it, love the idea and the execution.
But I don’t like the font choice.
It might be an illusion, but the abbreviations look to be different sizes and that bugs me.
(sorry to sound like a jerk)
The idea is really nice, and I’m sure it looks great to anyone else but me.
    😳

nice idea and looks really good.
i like seeing dimensional work being done in the uk, doesn’t seem to be many offering it these days so well done. crazy really as there are so many with cnc routers and would really up-sell what they can offer.
im guessing this have been done on a cnc machine or is it by hand?

not by hand, that would take forever. it is a simple vcarve with a .30 depth limit.
the trick to painting the text is to drag a 1/8" nap roller over it. you cut the roller in 4 inch long pieces, then you cut those in half length ways. then you put a lite coat of paint on half of that and very softly drag it across the tops of the text.
works like a charm and you can paint the text in 10 minutes. also works well for many other signs.

that was the first design and since that one I have brought the text into the design instead of doing it myself to fit.

now I simply put the text on in sections without altering the size.
here is one I just finished.
    thanks for looking.

I really like this, and with all the metal thefts that are going on in the UK it really does make sense to offer an alternative to cast bronze made from an alternative material to deter the thieves.

Co-incidently I was recently asked to do something similar and declined to quote on the grounds that I had no experience of using HDU and finishing this way. However, since then I decided to have a go myself using PVC foamboards CNC routered and spray painted with a bronze paint. This is what I came up with

the most recent one here was done with rustoleum.
they have a line out called modern masters metallic and another called metallic accents. both are the same paint I believe.
each one has several colors including bronze and copper in different shades as well.
the price is quite a bit less than sculpt nouveau but I like sculpt nouveau better, although they are very close.

A local designer (arrant) was using this for several years and you’d swear blind that the massive cast bronze table was real until you went to lift is and it was CNC’d MDF… or the rusting cast iron profiles that turned out to be polystyrene architrave from B&Q…wonderful stuff.
