Can anyone give me any tips on how to make cut vinyl lettering have a 3d effect?

Im using Illustrator to do this and I will be using chrome vinyl on a black van.

    Ant pointers appreciated.

    Thanks

    Thanks

I have already had a look at those ones. I was just wondering if there was an easier way of creating 3d lettering with vinyl.

Just use a prismatic font, you can get them from Letterhead Fonts, Sign DNA, Art & Sign Fonts, and The Fontry to name a few.

Oops I saw you are using chrome and black.
In Corel, type out your word.
    Add a contour.
    Break apart.
Copy the contour, drop it down and off to one side. Weld them both and send to the back, leaving the original typed text in front.
Ooppps just saw you are using chrome on a black van.
That should have enough of a 3D on its own.
Or, using a prismatic font, make the base of the lettering in chrome, and the highlight parts glass etch.
