3D Dimensional Sign: Handmade by Gary
Posted by Gary Johnson on 10 December 2012 at 04:31This is a self promotional sign I created for our showroom. The sign is a combination of many techniques which are meant to showcase a number of our strengths which include hand cut and polished brass lettering, cnc carved polyurethane, hand painted faux wood grain with both 23K and variegated gold leaf over prismatic lettering and graphics that have been enhanced with a gorilla glue technique. The figure is a self portrait with our shop dog DiDi hand painted and sculpted out of epoxy resin.

You need to get out & find some more customers, obviously got far to much time on your hands if you can do stuff like this for yourself :lol1: :lol1:
Absolutely brilliant by the way, wish I had the skills to produce work like that.

The entire piece is only 66cm high x 45cm wide. I wish I had more tme to work to work on showroom pieces like this. It was a lot of fun to make, but it was a lot of late nights and stolen hours here and there. Every once and a while I just need to turn off the computer get my hands dirty and show customers that I am capable of more than traffic signs, nameplates, directories and the like. Thanks for all the complements, it means a lot coming from fellow signmakers like yourselves!

Absolutely stunning mate a true artiste, wish one of my guys could do this

Great to build up some shop samples, I think a lot of us make the mistake of thinking we have no time for our own samples, but half an hour here and there, or running doubles of a similar sign or parts and you are up and running. That said one of my sample walls painted 2 years ago is still looking abit empty. Easier said than done!
