Hey guys, I’ve set myself the challenge of creating a bit of software that automagically, dependant on a set of variables set by the user, creates an interactive 3d preview of a customers sign which can then be previewed via a browser window. (so you can redirect clients to their own personal client space to show what’s going on). This is obviously more for bespoke fabrications.

I’m looking to include a bunch of different presets, so lit/pan/backlit/bevelled/vinyl(matte and gloss)/day and night etc etc to make it easy to create the previews.
it would show the fixings too.

at the moment I’m only working with bitmaps, but I’m going to try and include vector line to drive the creation algorithms.

it would hopefully be using the canvas element of HTML5 and possibly WebGL.

    so

    a) would anyone be interested in this kind of preview for proofing?
    b) what sort of presets does this HAVE to have?
    c) is there anything else that would make this better?

    Cheers for reading this 🙂

Awesome, will check that out ASAP.

I’m thinking of everything being created modular, so you don’t have to create the thing in 3d as such. you’d just feed it a 2d file, and select what sort of sign you want. It would then automatically create all the sign blanks mocked up as a publishable file.

it’d also then have user controls where you can for example turn the illumination on and off etc.

If using Chrome, u have to open these in Acrobat Reader, not the built in PDF
