Going to get myself a website up and running shortly. Been putting it off for a while for no real reason but have decided it’s worth at least having something as a reference point rather than nothing and my ideal domain getting snapped up.

Now, 123-Reg seems to be the most popular, good prices and ‘all under one roof’.

That’s what I am after really, the ability to be able to keep everything in one place so it’s easier to keep on top of.

So, does anyone have any suggestions or feedback on certain services which are worth looking into?

At this stage I am looking to purchase a domain name, host the site and use a basic template until I have a contact make me a decent interactive website. I am hoping this is something that 123-reg supports, but is worth asking where people may know as I would be kicking myself if I found that their packages were limited.

Mail wise, I am hoping I can use the same company for redirection etc so again it is easy to maintain in once place.

Loads of companies doing this sort of thing, some better than others I am sure. Like harry says lots of discussions so worth doing a search.
As for 123reg all I can say is that I have been using them for years & never had any problem what so ever, can’t compare them to anyone else as I have never felt the need to try another company.
Used then for pretty much everything, domain names, web hosting, etc etc. Took the website down for personal reasons not because I had any problems with them. Email forwarding is easy to set up for any domains you own, mine now all go to my google account as that’s easiest for me.

Thanks guys. I found more results on here a few pages onwards from searching ‘domain’ in the end rather than website etc.

Moonfruit seems a good contender Robert. Will have a good dig around on there. Do you use them personally?

My main fear is being tied to using templates only from some of these companies. If there is the option to in the future upload something created in seperate software with nice features and not only their own templates, then that would be great.

yes i use moonfruit for various things, have for years. its quick and easy to update.
i can do it from any computer as there is no software.
I even sat updating some sites whilst on the train going to Sign + Digital exhibition. everything i do is on the cloud, so to speak.

you can use their templates, but i prefer to start from scratch and do my own.

    Hi Daniel,
i have no clue about web design and have done a couple of websites through moonfruit, and it is a doddle. I think the service is great. I think 1 and 1 have a similar service (or they do in spain).

    goodluck

    Dan
