    Hi All,

Long time no speak ! I’m pretty much retired except of course for the “Can you just. But you’ve still got your vinyl printer haven’t you ?” And yes I still do a bit, which has led to the need for a new computer to be prepared for Windows 11.

I had to buy a newer copy of Coreldraw when the old computer was upgraded to Windows 10 which is why I bought X5 and for the most part still works OK.

    The problems : ~

    1. I can’t seem to zoom in on the part of the drawing that I wish to enlarge and for it to be in the centre of the screen !

    2. I’ve lost all the titles in the top bar, ‘File, Edit, View etc.’ They still show if I pass my cursor over them but otherwise that bar is blank.

So if anybody remembers the finer points of X5, I’d be very grateful for any help that you may be able to offer. Thanks in advance.

    Harry

I tend to keep up to date on the corel versions as I do trade print for a number of people and it usually covers anything I get sent. At my day job – I gave up working for myself a year ago, we also use coredraw so it makes sense for me to match the software on my own pc so I can print over spill here when we have no production time left in the print room

I think you’ll find that X5- 15 may not even work on new windows set-ups now.

Maybe look at picking up an earlier version.. currently on V26 (2025) I think, but from memory, V21/22 can be used stand alone and still run winplot, and other software you’ll be familiar with.

    Hi Hugh,

Thanks for your thoughts. I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you before now but as there hadn’t been any response after a week I didn’t think anybody could help. I understand your point re. the X5 version but I couldn’t really justify the need for more outlay AND the need to learn even more new and different methods. However in the meantime I scoured the internet, including You Tube and in fact found the solution to both the problems mentioned !

The centring problem was explain by a very helpful guy on Facebook and the Menu Bar problem was explained in a You Tube video ! So all good and for the most part it seems that X5 will continue to provide the “Flower Show” banner designs and the “Food Truck” signs for the local village and its pub.

I read your abridged version of “War and Peace” and am delighted that things are working out for you now.

Thanks once again for your thoughts.
