My marketing seems to be working, following a recommendation from another sign company, this customer was looking for something different to “just stickers” that the previous company supplied.

Van was a 2013 model, with just shy of 200,000 miles on the clock, in relatively good condition, save for the dents and hole drilled in the rear door, oh and a bonnet that wouldn’t open. Overall it came out well.

Printed on the Latex using SLX, wrap was installed by just me in 6hrs, and the vinyl applied within an hour this morning.

Despite the van being a bit rough, I enjoyed it, having the vehicle for 2days and charging accordingly, I’m happy and want to do a few more vans at this kind of level.

Looks great David, nice tidy job. We prefer half to full wraps as we can squeeze a a lot more profit out of them. Those Transits fry my head trying to decide what to run the text off, there so many lines going on here and there. Best thing about Fords is they seem to strip down really easy for wrapping which is a bonus. You’d have had great craic wrapping that with the super tacky material off your old Roland lol!

    Hi David

That type of coverage is my preference, mate. Part wraps can be just as profitable as a full wrap and sometimes, are more so, on the grand scale of things.
Minimal stripping down. quicker installation, easier to design, little to no chance of a media fail, blah blah blah
And well done, it looks great, you have revamped an old van which looks a million times better now. I am sure the customer loves it! 👍

The only thing I would have done differently, and it is just a “self preference”, I would have blended the dog out to black panels, so the whole wrapped dog sections were black and white, then the yellow stripes. That said, I realise it is likely to be the company colours.

Anyway, great work as always mate. Good to see you are busy and thanks for taking the time to post your work up. 👍

Yes company colours and the photo already had the graduation, although I need to feather it more as it’s got a harsh line where the image stop but you can’t see it as it’s rolled onto the roof.

I’ve been undercharging the partial wraps, and this one I was nearly double what I’ve charged previously, gave myself two days to install, so a lot calmer and I actually enjoyed it. Hopefully get some more heading our way.

i’m guessing all the yellow was vinyl laid over the top?

The sides are not, it was printed as one piece, even the text & logo on the rear, which I usually do overlay so even if the wrap distorts or goes on a little skewed the logo lettering can be straight.

The bonnet was the same, Security was printed on the blue. Laid knife-less tape along the swage line on the bonnet, laid the yellow, then blue over the top, pulled the tape and removed the excess to create a very tidy butt join (first time doing this) and really impressed with how well it worked.

Thanks david. Always nice to hear the inner workings of how you got there. I often question my methods because i too like to lay vinyl over the top of the graphics to make fitting easier and stop distortion/level issues but i know the customer ends up paying for it.

Usually my preference, not sure why I didn’t on this one. One confession I did miss measured the rear door, so the left door has a piece on the top where it was a couple of inches short, in order to put the bullets in the right location.

I think overlaying the vinyl would have added another hour perhaps.to the install, then a bit more weeding and taping.

    another nice job david. 👍

we do not print it all in one go in case we bugger up aligning the wrap. so adding the text afterwards give me another go at it. 😀

Usually do that myself, must have felt brave on this one and did it one go.
