Does anyone use a Fotoba cutter?
Does anyone use Fotoba cutter?
How is it, are you happy wit it? How much are they? Where can I buy?
We spend lots of time on Keencut, I’m looking for something fast and automatic to replace keencut.

Fotoba’s are excellent machines if you have consistent a high volume for work going out.
The prices vary greatly dependant on size, requirements etc. like everything I guess.First time I saw one, it was around £8000, when i eventually got round to enquiring about one, it was starting around £16,000 so I guess I was maybe looking at a reconditioned or second user one on the website i was on.
I have a friend that has one and uses it a lot. It certainly is faster, more accurate than doing it by hand and saves fingertips too!
Volume is the key I think and if you have the volume the machine replaces a member of staff that doesn’t take holidays!

I haven’t seen one of these before. very handy, but a heavy price tag!

I agree the prices for these machines are expensive, but if the bulk of your work requires trimming, then the machine cost will outweigh a member of staff in its first or the second year!
the machines do not take breaks or holidays and will trim faster, safer and more accurately than a person will. -
Reminds me of an ad in one of the trade rags, that said something like “if your finishing department is a couple of guys with steel rules, then you need this”

I’m trying at the moment to get my little grapthec 6000 to trim out batched of little prints on photographic paper. I think the answer is mostly no, and that I either invest in a nest of event printers, or a second user Fotoba digitrim, or drop upwards of £30k on a Noritsu or Epson drylab (not currently in budget).
These are very impressive machines, but requires a similarly impressive sales team.

Neolt do a similar type of thing. Might be worth speaking to Stafford at Atlantic Tech.

does the neolt do the same as the fotoba Jamie?
is it is the same price area as mentioned or cheaper?

The Neolt is an XY trimmer, and I think it has an autocorrect function, similar to certain Fotoba models. Fotoba has quite a few models, some of which can get very pricey, so it would be worth checking to see the difference.
