  Hi

  I’m new to Onyx, which is better?

  Onyx ripcenter that came with the printer or an older Onyx 12 Production House?

  we use the older version, but planning to upgrade. Not because we need to or that we are having any problems at all. it’s more a case of doing it to keep up to date and hopefully benefit from the added new features.

  Onyx 12 Production House is about 4 years old(ish), and the oldest current supported version, with all functionalities, like ICC profiling (get for making custom media profiles if your printer has a spectrometer), finishing functions for banners (grommets etc), multi printer & cutter support.

  RIP Centre doesn’t have the full functions – BUT worth checking the upgrade cost to production House if new and you’d like the extras – you also get a years membership with Onyx to upgrade if new version comes out if I remember correct.

  Thank you.

  I’ll install Onyx 12 on my main machine and install the rip on the other just to see what its like.

  I will look into the upgrade though.
