Reasons for print-head failure?
Well. That’s another print head gone. 🙁
The first one was an electrical problem. No idea why.The second was my fault. I had a weird over-spray around the print (Which Ive never got sorted) .
It was suggested it could be a case of needing cleaning. I tried and damaged the seal between the ink channels.Yesterday the 3rd one broke Error 085 Head Heat Error. This I think was ink getting into the green printhead connector.
the plastic ramp thing on one side is cracked and it looks like ink is splashing up into the printhead area.Could ink cause the printhead to Fail
Also what other things commonly cause them to go. -

Solvent ink is pretty corrosive when it comes to electronics, so yup, I am afraid ink in the head will kill it. My BN20 had the same problem, had an ink leak in the head and well, poof. That’s dead and gone.

Hasta la semana pasada use un mutoh vj1614 pero está totalmente roto.
coloqué la cabeza nueva pero no hay suerte.mi trabajo es normalmiente en Benidorm pero tengo un poco en Almeria tambien.

Your Spanish is very good !
From quite a bit of experience with Roland printers it could be several issues. Ribbon cable and or head or main board.
If installing a head it’s always good practice to replace the ribbon cable with new ones anyway.In respect of the dilemma of the machine
Tempted to say buy a second hand head and main board if cheap enough and known to be working but use new cables. This, in theory, should stop it blowing any new head. Might be worth buying a Roland printer and get the Mutoh sorted and sell it once fixed if there’s a market for it in Spain or sell it for parts but from memory it’s quite an old machine now.
Yes we were in Alicante and Valencia for a while and miss it a lot. Do you have a link to what you do please ?

I cheat :shocked:Mutoh doesn’t seam popular here so the only local parts I can get are really expensive so we have gone for the new printer but your idea of buying a 2nd hand mainboard and head to get the old one up and running sound great. That way we have a backup for the new one or we could sell it. Keeps our options open.
I bet you miss it over here especially with the current UK weather but remember the difficulties of running a business over here. You will appreciate the UK again. Paying tax and IVA(VAT) every 3 months isn’t nice and getting any tax refund you are entitled to comes when the government feels like it.
Business over here is up and down but we do have quite a good customer base. re. links to what we do. I really have to get around to updating the website, it’s so out of date.
Here is something we finished just before everything went wrong with the printer.

That looks really nice Philip. Quite difficult to find a customer that’s willing to spend proper money on a sign over there I should imagine. Find it really annoying in the UK sometimes a business will set up and then use just a banner as a shop facia – doesn’t give a good impression.
Yeah hubby and I miss the sunshine and elegance of Valencia. Weren’t so keen on Benidorm though. It’s a bit of a concrete high rise jungle but can imagine it’s a good place for business with British ex pats.
Drop me a line if you want a receptionist (fluent English/native Spanish). NIE already in place ! (goodness knows what hubby would do there though ! – estate agent or DIY stuff)
….and yes your website definitely needs updating (if it’s the one I think it is). Facebook is easier to update but not sure if the Spanish are as into that as other countries
