Architectural Drawings media?
Hi all,
We’ve been asked to start printing some architectural drawings for a client 5-10 per week and are wondering if there is any paper media that we could run through our VS-540 economically to produce these. Understand that generally these are printed on machines like HP Design Jets and spoke to the client about printing to poster card but as he said they would often be folded the card would be too thick.
Is this something worth doing and do you know of any paper media to run through a roland or is this really something that should be run off on large format inkjets?

Needs to be a 90gsm, but you may find that it cockles with the heat from the heater bed.
Aqueous is the way forward, quicker & cheaper.

agree with David, I always run these on our Aqueous HP on 90gsm

I always keep a roll of 220 g white photgraphic poster paper around, from colourbyte or plot-it, I forget, I just sell them on quality and have never had any complaint about the thickness. printed on latex.

90gsm uncoated paper for aqueous, remove all the heat. Job’s a gooden. Supplier told me that trick!

I’m going to test that out tomorrow, we’ve turned a few away lately as the local Staples has shut up shop.

We also offer waterproof versions – cheap’o poster HP latex polyprop media, my builder clients love them :smiles:

We offer items like that on lay flat material like you’d use for pop up banners. Cheap version isn’t that much more expensive than half decent paper. It can be sold on its benefits, eg tear and water resistant. Haven’t met anyone yet who hasn’t went for it as long as you don’t rip the a4se out of the price.

150gsm paper generally used for bus shelter type light boxes. Print them all the time on my uv and solvent.

Well just tried it out as we’ve still rolls of 90gsm drafting paper from when we had the Epson, and it works a treat.
No excuses now, we can print plans again 😆
