  • Vinyl lifting in areas, can it be fixed without replacing?

Posted by Daniel Evans on 10 July 2019 at 15:30

    Afternoon all

Got a job I done about 6 months ago and been told that a few areas are lifting slightly, it was when I tried another media and I found this issue on a few occasions so I no longer use it but I’d rather not replace the whole graphic this time for a few little areas.

Can i fix this or does it need replacing? I was hoping for something lie a glue stick that would stick down the problem areas.

    Thanks

Don’t bother mate, it will take the same effort as doing it properly. Do it again & put it down to experience

Thanks Kev. Put it down to experience alright.

I’ll see what’s needed and redo those parts and check everything just incase.

I think the best approach would be to replace it also.

what vinyl is it that is lifting?

If it is a flat panel sign and you are suffering from shrinkage around the perimeter only. you could trim it back neat and clean. then apply a coloured border around the edge of the sign. just a bit of a "get out of jail" plan. but as said, if the customer has brought it to your attention, redoing it is a good option.

Decided to redo the graphic as rather a happy customer and the fact they are a few miles away, I don’t want to keep going back if other parts lift. Rather redo in a vinyl I trust and move on.

I agree Kev, they’ve been a long term client for a while now and although they don’t spend much, they always pay on time and they recommend me.

Thanks for your help on the other stuff by the way.
