Outdoor signs – laid flat. Which material?
Hello All, I’m new here but certainly hope to get involved.
Back in 1989 when I was a draftsman I used an early Roland Camm-1 but then my work took a completely different path. Things have moved a long way in the interim.
Anyway, I have been asked to supply some signs (actually a few 100) along an outdoor route. They are to be 200mm x 100mm x 3mm, with simple lettering.
It would seem that the choice would be Dibond ACM, with the top layer engraved to show black lettering, or similarly a two tone plastic. The concern I have, is that the signs are to be laid flat, and so the grooves for the lettering will fill with rainwater and as such might be more exposed to the weather than signs mounted vertically. Over a period of years this might result in early de-laminating.
I wonder what your thoughts might be. And which choice of material.
