Up until now we have had fantastic use of this cutter. However, today it seems to have taken on a life of its own. Trying to setup a 610mm roll for cut and when it reads the rollers it says they need to be re-aligned – done. Does the same thing again. The one time it reaches the last roller it continues as if it is reading a 1.2 metre roll and then flies back to the origin with the knife down?? No cut file sent, this is just the set up. Any advice?

    Thanks

    hi Jason

i have the same plotter and had similar before never really got to the bottom of it except virtually every thing i did cured it for a little so has to be a poor connection somewhere.
clean the optical eye behind the head that reads the pinch roller. because it has miss read the outer roller in the standby position the head will not have reset the cross cutter blade leaving the normal blade down turn the plotter off and exercise the head full width from engaging the cross cutter with the sticking out pin on the left to the dis engaging ramp on the right. the machine should do it its self but to see where its failing.
mind you have probably fixed it by now.

i managed to find a mk2 second hand and just seams to behave so much better in all areas.
getting parts is very difficult now pot luck if they have any thing for it.

Thanks Chris, long time šŸ™‚ I cleaned everything and went over the machine with some iso, seems to have cured it for the time being.

    Hope all is well.

Continued to have the same problem. Decided to knock off the sensor completely. Now works fine just doesn’t measure the width of the vinyl. Fingers crossed it will keep going for the next few years.

I’m only really familiar with the later 8600 but it could be the cable that runs between the main board and head board. These can cause some really strange and erratic things to happen intermittently.

Thanks Stafford, had 10 good years out of it, possibly more. Seems to be going okay at the moment with all sensors disabled. The screen gets a bit mixed up if left for to long but still cuts.

thought it was just my two, must admit the problems i have had with these has put me off a newer one, apart from the screen issue the mk2 is still going well, i turn it off if not cutting for a while.

but the older graphtecs i have still going strong JX and flat bed. just seams to be the 7000s
