My visit to Europoint (Manchester)
We’ve quoted on a large job, and rang our rep at Europoint to get some prices.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, a quick chat on the phone putting the world to rights and discussing the industry, I’m invited to have a look around their depot. Being at a loose end, and with Andy in the office, I cheekily suggest that afternoon.
30 min’s later I’m at their depot, for a quick, impromptu behind the scenes look around 😆
It was great to meet the people on the end of the phone when I ring up. What was immediately noticeable was that the staff all seemed very pleasant and welcoming. From the sales staff in the office, through to the workers in the warehouse. It had a positive vibe about the place.
It was great to speak with the people in the warehouse, ask some questions, and I was impressed with their product knowledge. I mentioned receiving some wrap film in part rolls in the past… to which the guy from the warehouse pointed out they wouldn’t do that without checking with the customer first, as they’re aware that joining a wrap isn’t really acceptable.
The guys packaging & delivering the boards understand what the materials are being used for, and how to handle & package them without damaging them. They’ll even accept the media boxes back and reuse them for deliveries when they slit rolls :claps:
I ask whether they can slit rolls down, they can in branch but there’s a small charge. By chance I’m there as they’re slitting a roll down, and now appreciate the time, equipment and effort that it takes to slit it down.
I’m shown the vast amounts of stock they carry in branch, and learn they are happy to accommodate reasonable requests.
Until I visited the branch, I’d just looked at prices. I’d ring another supplier to save £5, or because they’d deliver, or simply because of force of habit.
Got to say I’m very impressed with the way they’ve set up their branch, the staff, the stock, how they’re flexible and accommodating, there doesn’t seem to be the "computer says no", or "head office say’s no" mentality, and they’re still competitive. A completely different vibe to the days of Robert Horne / Paperlinx
Well worth an hour or so out of my day
