Hi, hope you are all well.

I recently made two 5mm foam sign boards for a regular customer. They measure 835mm x 1282mm and they are quite basic cut vinyl lettering advertising job vacancies.

They have been positioned at the entrance to the industrial estate where the customer is based.

The customer contacted me to say the letters are slowly disappearing. I was a bit confused by their wording and thought the vinyl was faulty, but then i realised somebody’s peeling them off. I think it’s school kids on their way past. or something.

I was wondering what you think the best option is to protect the signs? Anti Graffiti film? What does this look like when applied over the top of cut vinyl lettering? Does it leave air gaps all round the edges of the letters or anything like that? And does it darken the letters at all?

Any other suggestions welcome (water cannon filled with wee, mosquito alarm, jimmy savile mask all been considered)

    thanks

    Liam

An extra layer of film won’t stop them from being removed am afraid.

Personally I would print the full sheet. That will take them a while.

I would also move to skybond instead of foamex as the next thing will be kicking it till it breaks.

Maybe put a wee CCTV sign in top corner or something.

Chris, the CCTV sign is a really good idea, thanks

It would have been much easier to print them (if i had a printer) should have subbed out the prints and applied them as complete sheets.

Yea unless you have said to your customer it’s bomb proof it’s hardly your fault and shouldn’t be replacing it FOC. I would re-quote them as a full print.

    Chris,
i would probably do it at cost for them if possible, because i’ve had quite a bit of good paying work from them, and currently doing a repair to one of their vans, so can tie it in with that.

    thanks
