    Hi,

I’m looking to buy a 2nd hand solvent printer, my first ever printer.

I buy it to test a niche business so I’m looking at 24-30 inches for now. If things go well, I’ll get a new bigger one next day.

I tend to go with Roland and BN-20 seems to be cheaper and easy to find as opposed to 300 series.

So what should I check when I buy?
Nozzle test print, genuine inks, general condition of the machine?

    Thank you!

One of our first printers was a bn20 and while the print quality was good it was so slow when printing. Changed it as soon as we could for an sp540. Now running that along with a ej640 and gr640 cutter. Also it has a waste ink tank that cost about £50 replace. I removed it and fitted a small pipe onto the outlet which was then fed into a plastic bottle. Worked perfect and saved a small fortune

I know is dead slow but I don’t need speed right now, I just need to have it here so I can print myself and perform tests. Once I get the demand, I’ll go pro.

Good job. The bn should do perfect for what you need. I made a dryer for our using a few small pc fans and hung it from the front to help speed up drying. Worked great although my 1st attempt had the fans blowing in towards the print heads which blew the ink and caused it to blur around the edges. Changed the design and positioning of it so it blew downwards like the bigger machines and was great. Can’t stop myself hacking at things lol
