So obviously I will depend on what your main type of work is but for those with a 54" printer how often are you finding yourself wishing you had the extra 6" of a 60?

Cant decide if the saving is going to turn into frustration, my use would be general signage, banners, vehicle graphics and wraps (part wraps mainly).

If you have the option then always go as Wide as you can. Doesn’t mean you have to buy Media that wide etc..

We do quite a few printed 10ft x 5ft sheets. With 54 this means a join somewhere. Just adds extra material and time to the job.

Ran 64" for the last two machines. Great for printing 10×5 foot panels (frequently print and edge wrap full panels)…and getting a full 1.5m high on banners after hemming. Bigger the better.
Obviously, you will need a laminator that is at least as wide as your printer!

I asked the same question year and a half ago. Went for 64” personally. Didn’t regret. Especially for banner and wrapping.

I have 60" latex, though 99% of the time I’m printing on 54" media. I can do unlaminated stuff at 60" but it’s not often required. My laminator is only 1400 so that limits me there.

My first Latex was a 60 but only ever used it at that size for a few 1500mm banners never anything else so when replaced changed to 54 and never missed it, lets be fair a 50m roll at 1370 is heavy enough to manage if your a one man band without going bigger.

Plus with the HP310 54 inch its two 13amp plugs so no special 16amp sockets needed so can move around as you like.

Ive just ordered a new 54" HP Latex.
95% of my work can all be taken care of with a 1370mm roll, and the stuff that cant, i outsource to a local printer.
As previously mentioned, you will have to purchase a cutter and laminator to complement your printer , but as kevin says, with a 54" latex, its 2 13a plugs so no additional wiring required if your premises don’t have a 16a supply.

At the end of the day, its a personal preference, if you think you will need the extra width on a regular basis, then go big, if not, then 54" will take care of most things

    Good luck :smiles:
