  • Vinyl backing problem, help please

When I’ve cut out and weeded vinyl and put lettering in place, I remove the vinyl backing and it still leaves some backing on the letters, I then have to pick of the rest of the backing costing time. It’s like the backing delaminates it’s happening all to often and is a pain. I’m using metamark and oracle. Am I doing something wrong to cause the vinyl to delaminates? Thanks.

Reduce cutting force Scott. The blade is cutting very slightly into the silicone backing paper. If you reduce by one step at a time till it stops happening but still weeds ok. If you go too far you’ll notice it gets harder to weed AA it won’t be cutting through the vinyl sufficiently

It can be a bit of trial & error & you can find that even things like temperature can make a difference, hot day = softer vinyl which cuts easier. Also different colours cut differently even within the same brand. Only really experience will help over time.
