    Hi all,
stupidly got distracted and forgot to change the Y cart after a large print run left it on 20ml… I realised after the next few banners came off. The print was fine but the cart was down to 4ml

switched it over and carried on, about 5m of material later and it would appear the the yellow had emptied, vibrant greens are looking a bit drab now, rich cream has gone more off white…

How do I get the ink running back through properly please? unfortunately I sold all my tinkering syringes with my old printer as I assumed I wouldn’t need to mess with this one!

    thank in advance,
    Hugh

Not much help for your problem here, but I’ve just changed the print heads and that has altered all my colours, very noticeable on certain shades I have reprinted, hoping there is a simple way to fix this too…

Never had this problem at all with genuine cartridges.

You tried running 100% Y prints on spare material for a few meters?

    Hi Hugh

I only ever had this happen once on my 26500 and it blew the head, no amount of printing yellow would work even with new ink until I changed the head over and from then on it was fine.

I thought there would be some further warning or something from then on I always change the ink at 30ml or just under to stop it happening.

I’m not sure how the printer measures the ink in the cartridge, if the chip in the ink does it or if it records the serial and keeps account of how much is used deducting that from the total.

Had a similar problem with my 310, optimiser read 78 for ages and started noticing problems so I swapped it over only to find it totally empty despite saying 78 on the total, so not sure if the newer ones are not so accurate with ink usage.

    Thanks guys,
I spent some time on saturday just printing solid blocks of yellow, as well as some basic CMYK, green, red, blue etc. to see if it was ok. it appears to have survived and is printing the blocks of colour ok. I’ve just run out of banner vinyl (argh!) but will run a fresh banner off to see if it’s fully ok.

    Thanks,
    Hugh
