  • How to use 26500 integrated spectrometer

    Hi All,
Bit of a techy question here & firstly please excuse my ignorance on this as I get easily confused with stuff like PC ports, networks & connections etc.

I’m also not sure if this is an HP thing, a Flexi thing or PC thing.

Basically, I would like to be able to use the integrated spectrometer for colour mapping & linearization but wherever I find the spectrometer setup in the RIP, the drop-down menu for connections only list COM, LPT or USB ports & the printer is connected via ethernet cable (Standard TCP/IP Port) which doesn’t seem to be recognised. Is there any way around this?

    Hi Myles,
My guess is that it is a hardware/software issue.
You are using ethernet which is recognised by your computer and printer.
But not recognised when trying to use the spectrometer.

Have you tried selecting the drop down options to see if any of them work ? Com, Serial or USB.

You could try buying a usb cable and see ifvthe software recognises this when attached ?

You could try virtual software such as
    https://www.eltima.com/serial-ethernet-converter/
Although this should be used as a last resort.

Could you add a second connection to your printer via a USB port (keeping the ethernet connection as well) would that work?

Thanks for the replies Phil/Neil, & apologies for my very tardy response :blushing:
I tried what I could of your suggestions but no luck & actually had SAI contact me on Friday last & take control of my PC to check settings, but they too were unsuccessful & are looking into it further.

In the meantime, I am going through various service options regarding the spectrophotometer on the printer. One of which (Color Sensor Check) requires the use of HP’s Aqueous Gloss photo calibration paper Q1273-60296. I don’t have any of this & wondering if The glossy paper I have in stock would work as a reasonable alternative (SIHL Trisolve Glossy Primeart 200)
or would I be wasting my time using an alternative?
