Supplier of : 6mm thick Matt Black acrylic
Good afternoon everyone.
I’m hoping someone might be able to point me to the right direction. We need to get hold of a sheet (Approx 1000mm x 500mm) of 6mm thick matt or satin black acrylic.
We will be using the acrylic to cut-out some letters and numbers. They will be routed and not laser-cut.
We usually buy from Perspex Distribution, but we can only have 6mm thick if we buy 19 sheets!!
They only have 5mm or 8mm thick if we only want one sheet.We’ve also tried Amari Plastics and no joy there either.

Try Irpen, Bay Plastics, Or Righton. Irpen is a manufacturer, Righton supply Polycasa, Bay Plastics mostly petrspex (but do others). You may find someone with a piece on a shelf, but its unlikely.
Problem is, 6mm is usually only available in clear, colours in 3 and 5 (some in 10 as well). 6 is an odd size, only seen it in a lightbox opal colour, hence why it would be specially made with a minimum order size.

Why can’t you use 5mm? I only ask because if you look in to the tolerances allowed in cast acrylic it’s ridiculously large. We had some 5mm that was 4.1mm thick and told it’s in tolerance so as long as you can find some 5mm that is not less than 5mm it could be almost the same thickness at 6mm with a negative tolerance and ending up nearly 5mm anyway.
Would your customer even know it was 5mm and not 6mm?
sometimes they have to simply understand they need to compromise.
