  • Advice needed Welding Large PVC Banners please?

Posted by Matt Roberts on 13 December 2016 at 13:07

    Hi All,

No doubt will make myself look like a fool, but wondering how do you go about making "oversized" PVC banners? We have a 54" Roland but now and again get enquiries for pretty large banners, which we currently don’t do (we’re only a new business).

Are they simply the reserve for those with much bigger machines, or is plastic welding an option, or similar?

    Many thanks,

    Matt

Outsource it to a trade supplier, such as Group 101. They’ll rattle it out in 1 piece and save you the investment and headache of trying to weld it.

We used to send banners off to Trounce in Manchester to get welded hems, but now just use hemming tape.

Anything larger than we can do in-house we tend to use Big Value Banners (based in Shrewsbury) they’re really helpful and have super-wide format printers so just mark-up they’re price.

We have used hemming tape once to make a banner in two sections then stick together, but it’s not something I would particularly recommend!!
