  • Help with Versacamm please ?

Posted by Carl Slater on 2 December 2016 at 12:05

Hi I have a Versacamm Sp300i bought new 2 years ago it has not had loads of use but does print each week and cleaned at least every month or two , but having trouble with black prints causing banding unless I use the high quality setting , but I am trying to to print small 50mm decals with text 4mm high and is coming out a bit fuzzy , the test print is looking iffy on the black …. I have tried cleaning with the swab fluid and in the settings but still the same .
Should I use the cleaning cartridge to flush the black and if so how do I do that ?

Any help advice much appreciated Carl

You really should be giving it an end of every week general clean for weekend shutdown.

I don’t think flushing it would help much. I would try soaking the head in cleaning fluid overnight then see what the test print is like

Are you suggesting I remove them ? not sure how to soak otherwise as upside down ? can I gently press a cleaning swab full of fluid onto them to soak ?

    Regards Carl

You need to clamp the outlet tubes then fill the capping stations with fluid. You should have a tool that allows you to wind the capping station down while the printer is switched off then wind it back up again to soak the heads.

    The procedure is shown here:-

The older machines (like I have) has a different method for unlocking the head – as mentioned above you need to use a special tool (It’s a thin hollow metal tube flattened at one end – about the size of a pencil) to wind the head down if you have the older machine

The cleaning should definitely be done at LEAST once a week. However, I don’t think that’s your problem. At the moment I would say that head needs replacing. However, I would probably swap one of the caps over from another colour and give it a good few powerful cleans. If it starts to recover, great. You need to buy a new cap top. If not, I think it will be head time I’m afraid.

    Genuine Roland head is:
