Sign Painting Design Publication
Hi all,
First off, apologies if this is in the wrong place (and hope it’s allowed), but I’m after some advice, recommendation(s), and/or contact information for any traditional sign painters in or around the Bristol area. Ideally someone who has been in the trade for most of their life and willing/interested in being the main focus of a design publication.
I’m currently a third-year Graphic Design student at UWE in Bristol, and we’ve just been supplied with a range of student briefs set by the International Society of Typographic Design (ISTD). I have opted to pursue one titled ‘Makers’, which is sponsored by G. F. Smith, and the task is to ‘celebrate the life’s work of a crafts person(s) from your local area.’ Not only does this project contribute toward our degree, but it will also be submitted to the ISTD for judging, with the aim of being awarded membership to the society.
I’m from Bristol myself and have a very keen interest in sign painting, but I’ve been looking for an opportunity to be able to learn more and get some hands-on experience, and this seems like a great time to do so. I would be more than happy to offer you my help somehow (if needed), in return for your willingness to help me with my project.
